Hey there !!! Welcome to this new series where I talk about best privacy practices to safe while surfing the internet, and in this series, we are going to talk about Browsers, We will rank them and hence you can choose which is the right one for you. So let’s begin…!!!

Choosing the right browser can have a huge effect on how you experience the internet, and if it’s been several years since you last tried a new one, you might be shocked by the impact it can have. I have been testing and swapping browsers to learn in-depth about them, how they are different from one another based on feature sets and privacy practices.

  1. BRAVE BROWSER

So there might be a chance that you have either never heard of this or you are in love with this, If you are in the later then I know the reason. This browser is built on chromium open-source project as most of the browsers are still provides the best UI and privacy features that are worth mentioning. Some of the best unique features of this browser are that it Blocks all ads, blocks social media tracker, crypto miners which makes your browsing experience fast and fluid still being lite on the CPU and ram consumption. Their motto is to block ad trackers those are hunting for your data, and yes they do it absolutely right. It’s powered by the Rust engine to block ads and it also rewards you if you would like to watch privacy-focused ads with Cryptocurrency knows as BAT (Brave Attention Token). So you get rewarded for using the internet, and it also gives a privacy stats where you can have a look at the sites and tracker those try to ruin your internet experience.

2. MICROSOFT EDGE

Sorry !!! Microsoft isn’t the same as it once was. It has come a long way in terms of experience, privacy and security features. Gone are the days when you had to fire Edge to install Chrome. The New Edge is way better in terms of ram management and blocking trackers, It can do a decent job. Even though this is built on the same chromium platform, it tries it’s best to be different from the rest. Fire it up with some extensions like Ublock origin, HTTPS everywhere and privacy badger to get the best privacy out of this browser.

3. MOZILLA FIREFOX

The oldest browser on the planet that is still rocking hard but sadly it is not the Mozilla it used to be, Its reliance on Google has made it much like a Browser from Google. That might be a good thing if you rely on Google products for your work or school, It still rocks the privacy enhancement feature which is improved and is better now. The cross-platform sync works just fine and overall it’s a no-nonsense browser. But making it 3rd in the list of best browsers is it is a browser that just works, the password manager and warning for a use of a weak password or once that is breached somewhere over the internet is a highly useful feature. Apart from this, there is no unique offering from Mozilla.

4: GOOGLE CHROME

Google Chrome? This might be the last thing you wanna hear when it comes to privacy, And I will not deny that but, it’s the most secure browser out there. It’s is as we all know by now built on chromium and it has improved a lot in terms of privacy from the last few years. Yes, if you are using it to access Google products then chuck the word privacy, But if you don’t then it might be best one for you. You can install the extensions that I have mentioned for the Edge browser and go to setting>privacy & security > safe browsing — enable the feature enhanced protection. There is not all that is good about this browser, the famous memes around its Ram and CPU usage are still applicable and it can turn your PC or mobile phone into a frying pan if required.

5: TOR BROWSER

The Tor Browser is a web browser that anonymizes your web traffic using the Tor network, making it easy to protect your identity online. This browser isn’t for an average user, it’s for those who want to experiment and explore the dark web. Being one of the safest and privacy-focused browsers, it comes with its own set of discomforts for a normal user, the primary one being the constant crashing of websites. So, If you have some product in a shopping cart and you try to access social media and boom you get bombarded with similar ads and If you are the kind of user who doesn’t want internet giants to track you across platforms or know your wants and needs over the internet then this is the browser for you.

To conclude, the Internet is a tricky place and we can do so much to knock ourselves into the mess. By using any of this Browser on your devices you will definitely have a peace of mind over the internet, that said it boils down to you, and how you use the internet. None of these recommendations is sponsored by any means, but my opinions after vigorous testing.
